Ma’nene’ Toraja traditional ritual schedule for 2026 in Lembang Tonga’ Riu:
Time: September 19 – September 26, 2026.
Place: Lembang Tonga’ Riu, Sesean Suloara’ District, North Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi.

Ma’ nene’ is a traditional ritual of the Toraja people of South Sulawesi, to cleanse and change the clothing of the remains of ancestors that have been stored in patane (house-shaped graves) or liang (graves in cliffs) for decades to hundreds of years. The Ma’ nene’ tradition is also a celebration of eternal love and respect, remembering and caring for ancestors. This tradition serves as a reminder of the inseparable bonds of family.

The implementation of the Ma’ nene’ traditional ritual varies in each region of Toraja. Some perform the Ma’ nene’ rite every three (3) years, while others perform it every five (5) years once.
