Funeral Rites Rambu Solo’ of the late Sanda Salurante (Nek Kake’)
The following is the traditional funeral rituals (Rambu Solo’) schedule of the late Sanda Salurante (Nek Kake’), on July 2026:
Date: 04 July – 11 July 2026.
Place: Rante Buntu Kalando, Lembang Tadongkon. Kecamatan Kesu’. Toraja Utara.
Profile of the late Y. Sanda Salurante (Nek Kake’):
Ne’ Karang, whose real name was Sanda Salurante, held the status of Kaparengesanna Tadongkon and held the Pa’buntuan Sugi’ Lan Lili’na Kesu’.
He was one of the local fighters who defended Toraja from the second wave of attacks by the Andi Sose’ battalion in the 1950s, which galvanized his fellow Torajans.
Their cruelty (the Andi Sose’ battalion) came a second time, burning people’s homes, threatening their lives, killing their pigs and scattering their intestines over the hedges along the road from Mengkendek to Makale.
They thought the Torajans would be complacent after their first attack failed. When they tried again, Ne’ Karang descended the mountains and galvanized the other Torajans to teach the Andi Sose’ battalions a lesson, until they gave up and returned without the desired results.
